Summer Camps July 5th- Aug 20th 2021

This year we are naming all of our summer camps after some of our favourite birds. When inquiring about camps through email, please be sure to refer to the camp by the bird name.

1) CORMORANT– Tatlow/Volunteer Park
July 5th – 9th
9am-12pm
Join Miss Sarah, Miss Pat and Miss Jessilyn for a week at Tatlow Park! The beach is the best place to be in the summer and this is our favourite by far. Loads of rocks and logs to climb, we love to make ‘Looking Logs’ of all of our found things, and we’ll have our Mud Kitchen set to play with too. When it gets too hot on the beach, we can retreat across the street to the shady Arbutus tree in Volunteer Park where we can eat our snack, read books and explore the grassy knoll and pond. So much fun to be had in these great parks!

Note: 2 day minimum registration is required.

2)  HERON– Hastings Park
July 12th – 16th

9am – 12pm
Join Miss Sarah, Miss Jessilyn and Miss Pat at Hastings Park to discover the beauty of Sanctuary Pond! This is a bird sanctuary hidden in the depths of East Van. Hummingbirds, Herons, and Mallards OH MY! During this week we will take time to learn a few of the different kinds of birds that live in Sanctuary Pond, what they eat and their bird calls. When we’re not learning about the local birds, we will be exploring the surrounding park and all that it has to offer! We will play tag underneath the Ferris Wheel and create pretend parties with dance performances and campfires at the stone steps. It will be a wonderful week of exploration that lets our imaginations soar wherever we want them to go.

Note: 2 day minimum registration is required.

3)  RAVEN–New Brighton Beach—NEW LOCATION!
July 19th – 23rd
9am – 12pm
Join Miss Sarah, Miss Pat and Miss Jessilyn to explore the wilds of New Brighton Beach for the first time ever! We will visit the beach and offer children the opportunity to put their toes in the water while using our Mud Kitchen set. We will hug the trees, learn more about them and delight in our snack under their shady branches. So many adventures await us at New Brighton Beach!!!
NOTE 1::: We will NOT be visiting the swimming pool during our time there.
Note 2::: 2 day minimum registration is required.

4) HUMMINGBIRD—Trillium North Park
July 26th-30th
9am – 12pm
We are headed to Trillium North Park with Miss Sarah, Miss Jessilyn and Miss Pat. They will be doing a final harvest of what’s in Miss Belva’s garden plot at Strathcona Gardens, setting up swings underneath the crab tree and playing in the sand box too! If it’s warm and hot, we may head up to MacLean Park for a cool off in the water park there. Children will be asked to bring bathing suits and towels with them on these days–advance notice will be given. The teachers will help them carry their extra gear if necessary.

Note: 2 day minimum registration is required.

5) BLUE JAY– Renfrew Ravine ($175 for week)
August 3rd – 6th
9am – 12pm
Join Miss Debbie, Miss Jessilyn and Miss Sarah for a week in Renfrew Ravine. We’ll go on hunts to discover the perfect stick, rock or leaf to make creations out of, we’ll seek out the labyrinth, hunt for mushrooms and look for bees! And we’ll keep our ears open for the chirps of Eagles and our eyes peeled for baby crows. There’s so much to explore, here’s hoping we’ll find it all in one short week!

Note: 2 day minimum registration is required.
*****No class on Monday Aug 2nd

6) SONGBIRD—Mount Pleasant Park ($175 for week)
Aug 3rd – 6th
9am – 12pm
Join Miss Belva and Miss Danijela in Mount Pleasant Park for the week. We will be exploring big messy art and creating a temporary art gallery in between the trees. We will be explore the park and the surrounding neighbourhoods as we go looking for Fairy Houses! There will be loads of opportunities for moving, running and creativity in this week! It’s bound to be filled with fun, laughter and exploration in this locally loved park.

7) FINCH–Clark Park (15th and Commercial)
Aug 9th – 13th
9am – 12pm
Join Miss Sarah, Miss Jessilyn and Miss Danijela as they explore what has become one of our favourite parks. Picnic’s under the trees, rolling down hills (then running back up the hills) and collecting of sequoia cones will be at the top of the list to do! How many children fit around one tree? How wide are the trees? If we measured with a rope, how many people long would that rope be? So many wonderful questions and curiosities to be explored while in this great location close to The Drive.

Note: 2 day minimum registration is required.

8) CHICKADEE — Trillium North Park
Aug 9th – 13th
9AM – 12PM
Miss Belva and Miss Debbie will be leading the charge as we head back to Trillium North Park for the second time this summer. We will find shade under the cherry trees, make sun tea with herbs from the Tea Garden and maybe dabble in some natural dyeing! Neighbourhood walks could take us to the beauty of Strathcona Community Gardens to play in the sandbox and peek into Miss Belva’s Garden Plot. If the weather calls for it, everyone will head to MacLean Park to run in the water park. Children will be asked to bring bathing suits and towels with them on these days–advance notice will be given. The teachers will help them carry their extra gear if necessary.

Note: 2 day minimum registration is required.

9) GOLDENEYE—Tatlow Park
Aug 16th – 20th
9am – 12pm
This park is such a fun place to be that we thought we’d go back twice! Join Miss Debbie, Miss Sarah and Miss Jessilyn for a week on the beach as they explore the natural wonders of the area. Together we will create long looking logs of found treasures, turn over rocks in search of crabs and hope to watch the birds try and open clam shells! We’ll have magnifying sheets and our mud kitchen items on hand to help with all of this exploration. When we’re feeling tired of the beach, we will head across the street to the shade of our favourite Arbutus tree for snack and story time.

Note: 2 day minimum registration is required.
